Incident Investigation

Along with health programs, safety education, risk assessments and regular safety inspections, we utilize incident investigation and analysis as a tool to bring us closer to our goal “to have every employee go home in good health and uninjured, after every shift, each and every day”.

Incidents resulting in injuries requiring medical treatment or loss of work time, serious environmental damage or major damage to property (or having the potential for such injury or damage) are investigated and analyzed at Barrick using a formal process and methodology designed to drive the investigation to identifying the root cause(s) of the incident. The methodology utilizes a software package available on-line at each of our sites. Training in the incident analysis process is provided to a wide range of personnel across all our sites.

The results of any incident investigation are recorded in our Company-wide safety database. Safety alerts and investigation summaries are distributed to each site advising of the circumstances and key findings of cause for the incident.
